A Poem for Mother's Day

To my dear mama, my sun who always shines bright

I know a woman, so good and true

Who has won the love of all who know her

She is worth far more than rubies

And I am blessed to call her 'Mother'.

She is cloaked in wisdom and humility

A heart filled with tender compassion

She warms the souls of those around her

And she is one of God's dearest ones.

Is there a sacrifice so noble and brave

Than to give up your dreams for love's sake?

Yes, she gave up the heights she could reach

To embrace the cross and what God had willed.

She spent her strength and her time

To raise two unworthy children

She said the fear of the Lord was

The only inheritance she could give them

So they tell her this day, "Inspite of all,

we fall short, for we are still so full of fault

Yet some day, we promise that you'll see

The fruit of the labour your love has wrought"

On earth perhaps, she has no reward,

Her labour of love is unseen

Yet I can only imagine her father's glad smile

When the gates of heaven stand open!

From your sunflower,

With love....
